Time for 2017 Goal Setting
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The time when we are enjoying moments with our friends and family. Many of us will gain a few pounds on all the indulgences we thoroughly enjoy during the holiday season. We will start to reflect on the year that has passed – thinking of our successes and failures, happy moments and those that could have been better. At the same time, we start to think about our resolutions for the new year.
When making your resolutions and goals for the new year consider keeping them balanced to four main areas of your life. Start by considering on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being perfect, where you are now in each of these areas:
- Family and Relationships
- Financial Independence
- Business / Career Success
- Health and Fitness
Now that you have identified where your starting point is, next consider the question “what would a perfect 10 be?”
Once you have determined what your perfect 10 in all areas of your life would be, then plan out your goals and resolutions to get you closer to your perfect 10. Remember that it will take 21 days just to create a new habit. Make realistic milestones to get you to your goal. Concentrate your efforts on the small and incremental gains.
You have heard the cliché “brick by brick”? Another way to think of this cliché is the Law Of Incremental Improvement whereby you focus on achieving 1/10th of 1% improvement each and every day. This focus will make the dedication to achieving a goal seem more manageable. Compounding that improvement, that means you can be approximately 2% better each and every month, month over month.
Consider taking a seminar on goal achievement, such as Eat That Frog. More than 1,000,000 people around the world have taken the one day seminar. It’s incredibly popular because it works.
What is holding you back from achieving your goals in 2017?
